"What if an Artist ran for President?"

Maybe I won't have to.

As Michael Moore so elegantly points out -- he does that... and he does it for us, not just himself -- we have NOW passed the point where "we've been in Iraq longer than we were in World War II". I say we, even though Michael and I weren't born during a global conflict. We were however, taught to duck & cover, and from that day on, we've spent most of our adult lives preventing the next one.

If Dick Cheney can state that his policies have kept Terrorists from attacking since 2001, Michael and I have just as much evidence to prove our claim.

Giving the responsibility for everything, including Life and Death of "anyone but us", to Jesus, or Allah, or your elected officials, is not just asking for trouble, it's an immediate and obvious measure of what you yourself are doing/not doing to stop the next Global War. We are at the brink of annihilation because we give our ability to live in Peace to those who profit from War.

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

I have friends and loved ones that are preparing to move "anywhere but here", because they don't want to go down with the ship. When they ask why I'm staying, I can't help but say: "to keep the ship from sinking in the first place."

Who blames them? I'm asking: "Who blames them?"

Our Fathers DID NOT fight so their children would have to make such a decision... about their own country.

There'll be no storming an already armed bridge; held by guilt-ridden Officers who refuse to acknowledge they made a mistake, even after hitting the iceberg they just couldn't see.

It's our turn. As Gandhi explained to the astonished British: "It is time for you to leave...", before everyone but those who think they've bought a seat in a lifeboat, is floating in the icy darkness; waiting yet again, for someone to rescue them

I HAVE ENGAGED THE BORG BEFORE.

The difference now is that many more are engaged in a battle going south. The lesson of Jean-Luc Picard; defying his previous orders, arriving in Earth orbit (the Borg were fought there, yet we ended up fighting them here), and announcing he's taking control of the Fleet, may now be appreciated by every American who has realized that the past has been superceded, and there may not be another two years.

It will certainly be greeted with relief and joy throughout the rest of the World.

If we follow through. If we use the window to tell the Truth long enough for everybody to think twice instead of preparing for invasion.

Like a child with unique talents growing up to find out that other kids don't have them, followed by "and you better hide yours!", I WILL WIN, because those kids have grown up and we've found out that people are more like us than we were led to believe.

I was sitting in High School geography class; memorizing State Capitols when the announcment of JFK's assassination came over the loud speaker. NO ONE can PROVE much of anything these days, and it would be even harder to prove that someone did THAT on purpose just to wipe out the hopes and dreams of an entire generation to which the torch had been passed, but it sure has come to make sense.

If there is a "THEY", they were wrong there, and I can PROVE that.

If someone has to face the rolling eyes that accompany "You can't win...", in order to demonstrate that THOSE Hopes and Dreams are alive and well THANK YOU, and more magnificent than anyone knew...

I'll do it.*

Put the Art in Party.

The Tide Has Turned. Understanding the Truth behind the Mother of all campaign slogans: "RUN KNOWING YOU CAN'T WIN.", means you understand the real answer to my question.

I'VE ALREADY WON.

POST NOW. It will soon be a Post-Apocalypto World...

It is about time we had an artist step forward. Only an artist with unbridaled creativity can find new solutions to this myriad of problems facing this country now.

Michael, I have come to the conclusion that you and I have many shared beliefs and ideas.
I am an artist (in many forms)and a veteran. I have seen so I sing, but no one listens. I don't know if they are scared or just stuck in their complacency.
All of you that know of what's really going on...don't stop. Keep talking at work. Keep writing that hidden message in a song. Keep speaking with pictures and art. Keep believing that there is something better that what our father's father has left us.
I know that I don't want to be amoung the living generations that have to deal with the whole thing unravelling. Or having to tell my grandchildren sorry that we sat by and did nothing (but we saw the whole thing on T.V.).
Only problem is the ones that truly speak out and do something almost always die for their cause.
So how do we get around this problem? I don't know for certain, but I sure know I would try to befriend the press.
