What's the opposite of a Weapon of Mass Destruction?

Think we could build one of those? If not us, who? If not now, when?

Should we hesitate to use it?

"Give 'Em Hell" Harry alledgedly agonized over that decision. How much more important is it today with Heaven itself at risk?

All eyes are on America.

Surely we can all agree on that, even though it's hard to find two people who agree on why.

This is our time. The one we were all either warned about or are expected to embrace. Maybe both. Perhaps today is the end of the road or maybe it's just the boundary at the edge of a world where there are no boundaries, no limitations; man-made or otherwise.

The future is sometime described thus. A future that by definition, begins as you read these words.

Today is the first day in the rest of the lives of everyone on planet Earth.

EVERY ONE.

If Kim Jong-Il loves movies and is secretly in awe of Hollywood, how dangerous would he be if he was hanging out with Spielberg, Eastwood, Pollack, or Lumet? How much of a threat would he be if he was Executive Producer of a movie in production for the next 18 - 24 months?

Why isn't that the deal being inked?

America's secret weapon is not a rail gun mounted on a humvee in Iraq next month, or on a "DREAD" Suburban in Compton next year, but it may be something only the last superpower can pull off when all else has failed. Perhaps it will only take one American who knows the opposite of an Extinction Level Event, and knows how to bring IT about.

I'll do it. I've already begun.

My Name is Michael Sterling, and I approved this page.

Thank you for your interest. I'll answer as a man and as honestly as I can.

Birth Control

The best form of birth control is Love, and an awareness of the responsibility that comes with it. Sex however, is truly a powerful force and I would deny no one the experience. Men can practice birth control through right action, but I would hate to see a society that penalized women when human nature gains the upper hand. Birth control should be available to anyone over the age of consent as legally established.

Abortion

Once again, my first thought is that I have no lines here. A man can insure that a woman never needs an abortion. If he doesn't, no woman should be forced to pay for his bad judgment. I think women alone should make this decision, and if only women were allowed to do so, abortion would only remain a problem for religious fundamentalists.

Social Security, Medicare & Socialized Medicine

Security in any form is transient, but one can only applaud any society that attempts to help the very citizens that allowed it to thrive when they need society's help the most.

Stemcel Research & Biogenetics

As Todd Snider says: "I believe in everything", but I also saw George Pal's "ATLANTIS", so I'm aware that the same human nature that doesn't always get Love & Sex right may make even graver mistakes when it starts altering things it knows even less about. The operative word here is research. Hard to imagine any advanced society that got there by stifling same. Read "FLASH FORWARD".

Illegal Immigration

Once again, the United States could have avoided this problem through it's own right action. "Illegal Immigration" is but blowback on a different scale.

Taxes

If we were rid of these, we would only have Death to dispose of. Taxes however, got the United States to the Moon. The Americans who proudly joined in that effort can be forgiven for rebelling when they see the policies their money supports now.

Air Pollution & Alternative Fuel

Al Gore. PEACE BE UPON HIM.
Alvin Toffler once wrote that it took sixty years for a new idea to enter the general consciousness. Hard to imagine a world that took that long to accept "An Inconvenient Truth". I remember Detroit's "BIG 3" meeting with Clinton in the Rose Garden. They could have made the environmental movement redundant by the time they met with Bush 43 in the very same place.

Freedom of Speech, Religion, & the Press

"Do what thou wilt" might work with spiritually advanced Anarchists, but the fear of what "the other guy" might do, is what drives the attempt to limit freedom in the first place. If America was truly founded on the freedom of not being told what to do, say, or think, then we should be the first place that spiritually advanced Anarchists would appear.

Phone Tapping

Un-American.

UFO’s

Saw one once, and one of my best friends says they landed in Idyllwild once and talked to him for quite a while. The lack of other evidence is dissappointing though. It's interesting however that some believe that an Alien Race has contacted the Military and produce the Yellow Book; a holographic document of how the Human Race has been manipulated since prehistoric times... including the founding of all the world's religions, as that was the easiest way to keep the "experiment" under control.

Well, it IS Valentine's Day, and I won't have too much fun sitting at this computer all day, so I hope these brief answers are in the spirit you hoped for. I believe the reason any of the above topics approach being problems instead of benefits, is a general lack of respect for the law of Cause & Effect. All our problems are to a great extent, of our own making. A Nation is obviously at even greater risk if it's leadership shuns the responsibilty and right action that keeps it's loved ones safe and free from mistakes that threaten the lives not only of individuals, but of the Nation itself. Perhaps the Planet's resources ARE finite and disappearing. If so, the Country founded on the belief that all men are created equal, should lead the way in treating the rest of the world as we would have them treat us.

Happy Valentine's Day! YOU go & have Fun.

Since my last comment, I've received an email I'm compelled to post in full though the operative line is: ""You are a MediCal patient. I make thirteen cents on the dollar to see you. You are just not a priority."

My name is Henry Akins.

For almost twenty years I have spells of dizziness and other symptoms including weakness, loss of breath. nausea, and brain fog. All the while, my doctors said I was fine. Good glucose levels, good blood pressure, etc... I was otherwise completely healthy. I was athletic as a skater, bike rider, runner, and martial artist. I wrote these spells off to stress and dealt with it when it happened. Over the years, the frequency of these "attacks" rose and in the latter part of 2004, I had to face the fact that I could no longer do my job (I was an Art Director of a web development firm) in a timely manner (meet deadlines), due to the near constant brain fog. I again assumed it was stress and set about trying to find a less stressful job.

The week prior to 4/9/05 I was sick. I was in bed for two days with a 104.5 degree fever and flu-like symptoms. My wife and children were all sick as well, and in the course of caring for our children and herself, my wife was in no condition or position to get me to a doctor. The fever eventually broke and I got better. I don't know if this period of fever is related to what is going on, but due to the
timing, I thought I would include it.

Two days later, I went for a walk and felt very dizzy. I had been
dizzy before, but nothing like this. It felt like G forces were
pressing on me from all over, and my head was spinning. I made it
home, and told a friend that I didn't feel well. For the next three weeks, I felt dizzy, as I described, at random, and my ears rang off and on.

When I began "tipping" (a sudden loss of balance resulting in a fall), I finally grew concerned enough to seek medical help. I was told what I was experiencing was called vertigo. I was prescribed Meclizine - a.k.a. AntiVert, which had no effect. Several weeks later, the vertigo had not gone away. The ear ringing was constant now, as well as constant, overwhelming nausea. I went back to the doctor and was told that I may have Meniere's Disease. There was nothing he could do, and I should see someone else. At about this time, I had to get MediCal as
insurance, due to financial problems.

I live in Big Bear, California, which is a semi rural area located at an altitude of almost 7,000 ft. above sea level. Finding a local doctor that would take MediCal and
get me to see the right people was nearly impossible. I eventually
found one, actually a Physicians Assistant. Since that time, I have
had an MRI that turned out to be the wrong kind. I have had X-Rays. I have had blood panel tests done. I have been forced to drive (as a
passenger) "down the hill", an adventure in itself...the change in
altitude along with the winding mountain road is a nightmarish
experience, to have several of these tests done. I've been turned down for the "right" kind of MRI (my head-with contrast) twice by Medical and my doctors office never even thought to notify me, losing valuable time in diagnosing whatever is wrong with me.

It has now been almost two years since I "officially" recognized this as a major health concern, and I have gotten nowhere. Partially, I am convinced because, as my doctor said to me, "You are a MediCal patient. I make thirteen cents on the dollar to see you. You are just not a priority." This morning, I found out that I had been denied a TAR (Treatment Authorization Request) by MediCal for the MRI I need again. Each time wasting an average of three to four months.

In the course of all this, I have no income aside from that of my
wife. As this is not enough money, we have to accept financial
assistance from a family member who is now no longer able to keep this
up. Here in Big Bear, there aren't any companies that have an opening
for what I did as an Art Director. Let alone an artist that, due to
health, could not guarantee a deadline. An option that has many job openings would be in the field of construction and roofing. However, I think the thought of an employee randomly tipping off a roof or scaffolding scares off employers. It doesn't exactly make me feel all that good, either. This leaves very few options. I have been denied Disability twice, due to not being "disabled enough to prevent me from doing my former occupation (Art Director)", regardless of the fact that I am now in constant discomfort with a range of symptoms I will define below. Also regardless of the fact that there is no such position available, even if I were suddenly healthy. My official MediCal Disability physical exam lasted about four minutes and was so
brief I was not at all surprised to hear that he judged me to be in
good health. The only way, I have been told, to get state disability
insurance approved is to hire a lawyer. Having followed this lead, I was told I need to have a doctor sign a form saying I am disabled and all would fine. However, even with the history above and the symptoms below, it seems no doctor that accepts MediCal will sign this. Without a doctor willing to sign this form, I will eventually lose my home and all I own. Not to mention that I still do not know what is wrong with me. Meniere's was only a speculation.

List of symptoms follows:

1) Constant symptoms:
Aural fullness, constant sense of motion, nausea, dizziness, vertigo.

2) Near-constant symptoms that occasionally go away (for no longer
than a day or so):
Ear ringing (at varying levels and pitches).

3) Random symptoms:
Loss of balance resulting in a very sudden "tipping" or fall (about
15-20 times a day, at random).

4) Morning only (until around 1:00 PM) symptoms:
Increased nausea often resulting in vomiting, increased dizziness,
increased aural fullness, increased vertigo.

5) Evening (from around 6:00 PM to bed-time) only symptoms:
Increased ear ringing, dramatic increase of "tipping" events, slight
loss of hearing.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

If you are a doctor and can somehow help, please contact me. If you
are not a doctor, but know of a way to help, please contact me.
