BOLDLY GOING NOWHERE

If FOX NEWS had been around to cover Kennedy's speech that committed the United States to landing on the Moon, we would have never left the ground. Imagine what they would have done to Barack Obama if he had stood with Collins, Aldrin, and Armstrong, and committed the United States to establishing a Martian Colony to ensure the survival of the Human Race.

None of the droogs in the "WE REPORT, YOU DECIDE" bunch, no matter what logo they serve under, mentions the Elephant that has refused to leave the room for four decades - that we could have been celebrating an American presence on the Red Planet with a live broadcast from ZUBRIN BASE, instead of waxing nostalgic over what we haven't done since "THEY'RE ON THE MOON!" flashed across scoreboards everywhere.

Not to worry. America is going nowhere. Especially not today.

Except where Walter Cronkite said in his later years: “It seems to many of us that if we are to avoid the eventual catastrophic world conflict we must strengthen the United Nations as a first step toward a world government patterned after our own government with a legislature, executive and judiciary, and police to enforce its international laws and keep the peace. To do that, of course, we Americans will have to yield up some of our sovereignty. That would be a bitter pill. It would take a lot of courage, a lot of faith in the new order. But the American colonies did it once and brought forth one of the most nearly perfect unions the world has ever seen.”

The most trusted man in America.

My Name is Michael Sterling, and that's the way it is.

24 hours later - Not a single mention of Apollo 11, or even the future of the manned space program. Just a news cycle full of evidence and proof that Earth's days are indeed numbered - with no backup plan in place. Perhaps, that alone, the biggest failure of the superpower that "won" the Space Race.
